Somatic Breathwork & Trauma Healing
The Power of Breath.
Trauma lives within.
Kristen Stum, MSWI, is a Certified Somatic Release Breathwork Practioner ™ and brings both professional skill and the power of presence to her work. Trauma is not just something that happened in the past—it often lingers in the body. Science continues to confirm what many have sensed for years: unresolved trauma gets stored in muscles, fascia, and the nervous system. This can lead to chronic pain, anxiety, digestive issues, and emotional reactivity. Somatic breathwork recognizes that healing must happen not just through talking about our experiences, but by allowing the body to release what it has held onto. Kristen helps guide people into that release with safety and skill.
Nervous System Healing
The nervous system is the command center for how we experience safety, threat, and connection. While talk therapy helps us process our stories and beliefs, it often doesn't reach the deeper patterns held in the body. Somatic breathwork is designed to work directly with the nervous system through a bottom-up approach. Rather than only trying to change thoughts, Kristen helps people tune into sensations, regulate their breath, and shift into calming states that support healing. When we connect with the body and allow it to reset, we can move out of fight or flight and into a more balanced and peaceful way of living.
Music, Guidance, and Breath
Somatic breathwork sessions are supported by carefully selected music, verbal guidance, and intentional breath patterns. These three elements combine to create a safe and powerful healing space. The music helps people drop into their bodies, matching and guiding the emotional tone of the session. Kristen offers cues that support nervous system regulation and emotional release, helping clients feel seen and supported throughout the process. The breath itself is a powerful tool that shifts the body's physiology, allowing emotions and stuck energy to move. This combination creates space for deep release, insight, and restoration.
Releasing Stored Trauma
Letting go of trauma is not about forgetting the past. It is about helping the body stop reliving it. Somatic breathwork allows people to release stored tension, express long-held emotions, and complete unfinished stress responses. Kristen teaches clients to listen to their bodies, trust their inner signals, and create new patterns of safety. Over time, this can reduce symptoms like anxiety, overwhelm, and shutdown. When we work with the body directly, healing becomes more than a concept. It becomes something we feel and live. Through regular practice, people can reconnect with their wholeness and begin to thrive again.
